The project originated in the first weeks of the war. It was incomprehensible and very scary then, and a wordless, addressless plea for protection was constantly ringing in my head. This project is the plea that has taken material form. Repeated many times, as it should be with prayers and incantations and children's requests and all real, passionate desires. The plea that must have been pounding in living hearts as long as there have been hearts - please, please, protect! Please, let someone big and strong come and protect me and everything that is dear to me!
A hand that repeatedly creates an image. A gesture that repeats itself over and over again, a gesture that turns into a ritual. Childish and at the same time so archaic - if you repeat it enough times, it will definitely come true!


Проект бере коріння в перших тижнях війни. Тоді було незрозуміло і дуже страшно, і в голові постійно лунало безсловесне, безадресне благання про захист. Цей проект — це і є те благання, що набуло матеріальної форми. Багаторазово повторене, як і має бути з молитвами і замовляннями, і дитячими проханнями, і усіма справжніми, пристрасними жаданнями. Благання, яке, певно, стукотіло в живих серцях стільки, скільки існують серця — прошу, прошу, захисти! Прошу, нехай хтось великий і сильний прийде і захистить мене і все що дороге мені!

Рука, що раз за разом створює образ. Жест, що повторюється знову і знову, жест, що перетворюється на ритуал. Дитяче і одночасно таке архаїчне — якщо повторити достатньо багато раз, обов'язково здійсниться!





The series of works "Save me. Help me. Protect me.." appears in a time of full-scale war, when there would seem to be no place for art. Paralyzing horror, hatred and pain, despair and powerlessness block creativity. What can you create when you are scared all the time, as scary as you have never been in your life? But precisely now art is returning to its mythological power and magical abilities. The artist, like millions of Ukrainian men and women, is looking for inner support, needs protection and turns to ancient powerful forces for help. Some artists create a curse song for the enemy, some use laughter as a weapon. Margarita Zhurunova uses her own system of actions and looks for an image there that can really help. Again and again she applies paint to the surface, closes the contour, putting all her fear and despair into the movements, each time repeating the request. Until the image of a warrior, an eternal defender, appears on the plane. It has been appearing in terrible times for thousands of years on the walls of caves and temples, in stone and metal. And now he is to appear again, full of strength and light, which is now so necessary for our people.
So, this project is not an exhibition in the usual sense, just as its components are not graphics. We see prayers, we see ritual objects and a sacred space in which the concentrated energy of primordial magic surges. Person, Land, Country is begging for help. Save it, help it, protect it.

Серія робіт «Save me. Help me. Protect me.» з’являється під час повномасштабної війни, коли, здавалося б, не має місця для мистецтва. Паралізуючий жах, ненависть і біль, розпач та безсилля блокують творчість. Що можна створювати, коли весь час страшно, так страшно, як не було ніколи у житті? Але саме зараз до мистецтва повертається його міфологічна сила і магічні здібності. Художниця, як мільйони українців та українок, шукає внутрішню опору, потребує захисту і звертається до прадавніх могутніх сил за допомогою. Хтось з митців створює пісню-прокляття для ворога, хтось використовує як зброю сміх. Маргарита Журунова застосовує власну систему дій і в ній вишукує образ, що дійсно може допомогти. Вона знов і знов наносить фарбу на площину, замикає контур, вкладаючи в рухи весь свій страх і розпач, кожен раз повторюючи запит. Поки на площині не виникає образ воїна, вічного захисника. Він з’являється в страшні часи вже тисячі років на стінах печер та храмів, у камені та металі. І тепер він мав з’явитися знову, сповнений сили і світла, яке зараз так необхідно нашому народу.
Отже цей проєкт не є виставковим у звичному розумінні, як не є графікою його складові. Ми бачимо молитву, бачимо ритуальні об’єкти та сакральний простір, в якому бринить концентрована енергія первісної магії. Людина, Земля, Країна благає про допомогу. Збережи її, допоможи їй, захисти її.
